This camp plays a wide variety of sports and games each day! Our main sports are basketball, football, soccer, baseball/wiffleball, kickball, lacrosse, and volleyball. We also play tons of tag games and capture the flag style games! The kids love the variety of games and sports that we play which ensures that no one ever gets bored! Kids get grouped by age/ability. All necessary equipment is provided, but campers are always welcomed to bring their own equipment too as desired for specific sport days. Coach Rob Hokanson leads most activities with the help of camp counselors, but each year we have had guest coach appearances for certain sports. Last year, Coach Jason of Bethesda Baseball Club, gave instruction to our older kids on the baseball day and we hope to have more skilled guest coaches visiting us this year too! Each day we touch on two sports and learn the skills, practice, and then play games! For the youngest kids, we modify our activities to fit their developmental level, and work in plenty of breaks with fun games, arts and crafts, and so forth in order to help them last the whole day! If it gets hot enough, you can bet on a visit from the icey truck and you may see a water bounce house appear in the afternoons as well!
Campers arrive in the morning and we kick off each day with some fun team building games or challenegs which are always a crowd favorite! Next we will break up into our developmentally appropriate groups and we will take part in some fun station work that is made up of our sport skill focus. For example, if sport focus is soccer, campers will participate in some stations where they work on all of the most important sport skills IE: dribblling, passing, shooting, and defending. During this time we are not only teaching skills but also teaching the rules and procedures of the sport as needed. Following our stations, camper will break for a snack (provided by the camp) and then we move into our game time! Game time, depending on your age, could look like anything from 3v3 mini games to larger size games. We wrap up the morning with a tag or capture the flag style game, and then break for lunch. After lunch we start things off with another tag or capture the flag style game and then we move into the next sport. The AM and PM follow the same format of “team building, skill stations/activities, and team games”. We mix up the sports in the AM and PM so that our all day campers are never playing the same sport all day! We also allow the campers to help guide the sports we play on day 2-4 based on their feedback during day 1.
We are so fortunate to have indoor and outdoor spaces which means we won’t need to worry about the weather! Space is limited in all camps and we will fill our camps on a first come first serve basis! Quality is our top priority, so once our camps are full, we will be unable to add any new campers. This is how we ensure your child will never come home and tell you how much they “waited in line”. We keep all of our campers involved via small groups and design our games for maximum participation and fun!
